Body of Art zoekt bestuursleden: Voorzitter, Penningmeester, Netwerkbouwer

Body of Art/Annemijn Rijk in Tilburg zoekt drie bestuursleden voor vier tot zes bestuursvergaderingen per jaar | Onbezoldigde functie | Sluitingsdatum: 25 juni 2025

Body of Art is het platform dat de ideeën en producties van choreograaf, filosoof en echomaker Annemijn Rijk realiseert. We werken vanuit de intrinsieke noodzaak om via de kunsten onze huidige maatschappij – waarin rationele normen, waarden, structuren en privileges nog altijd de boventoon voeren – in vraag te stellen.

We creëren zintuigelijke, experimentele producties in de Grey Space, de artistieke ruimte waarin kunstenaar, kunstwerk en publiek door interactie gezamenlijk een werk tot leven brengen. We maken totaalervaringen waarbij een passend contextprogramma, en de juiste publieksbegeleiding en voorbereiding, onderdeel zijn van het geheel.

We zijn een innovatief en interdisciplinair gezelschap met ambitieuze nationale en internationale plannen voor de komende jaren en zijn daarom op zoek naar enthousiaste, betrokken bestuursleden die onze missie onderschrijven en het leuk vinden om hun kennis en netwerk in te zetten vanaf augustus 2025.

Bestuur Body of Art/Annemijn Rijk

Het bestuur van Body of Art houdt op afstand toezicht op het strategisch en financieel beleid en toetst of de organisatie handelt in lijn met haar missie, waarden en meerjarenplan (2025–2028). De aanleiding voor deze oproep is dat twee van onze drie huidige bestuursleden binnenkort afscheid nemen. Eén vanwege een mooie stap naar de directie van Theaterfestival Boulevard, de ander vanwege een aanstaande verhuizing buiten de provincie. Een natuurlijk moment om het bestuur te versterken en vernieuwen.

Bestuursleden

– komen 4–6 keer per jaar samen;
– beoordelen formele stukken zoals begroting, jaarrekening en jaarverslag;
– volgen de principes van de Governance Code Cultuur;
– functioneren op afstand en vullen het kleine, maar zeer professionele kernteam van Body of Art/Annemijn Rijk aan, dat verantwoordelijk is voor de dagelijkse gang van zaken;
– bestaan samen uit een evenwichtige spreiding van expertise, leeftijd, gender en culturele achtergrond.

Algemeen profiel

– Affiniteit met cultuur en maatschappelijke en/of filosofische vraagstukken;
– Oog voor artistieke inhoud en/of organisatorische processen;
– Een onafhankelijke en integere houding;
– Bereidheid om ambassadeur te zijn voor Body of Art;
– Inzicht in (inter)nationale ontwikkelingen in cultuurbeleid en/of ondernemerschap;
– Je komt wellicht uit een andere sector – tech, business, wetenschap, duurzaamheid, filosofie – maar je voelt je verwant met de culturele wereld. 

Gewenste profielen

We zijn op zoek naar drie nieuwe bestuursleden met de volgende profielen. Voldoe je niet volledig aan het profiel, maar voel je je wél aangesproken? Dan nodigen we je van harte uit om te reageren.

Voorzitter

Je bewaakt het overzicht, stelt de juiste vragen en geeft richting zonder op de voorgrond te hoeven staan. Je denkt mee op hoofdlijnen, overziet belangen, en zorgt ervoor dat het bestuur als team functioneert. Je hebt gevoel voor dynamiek, weet wanneer je moet aansturen en wanneer juist niet. Je kunt schakelen tussen artistiek inhoudelijk, bestuurlijk en maatschappelijk niveau – en bent, waar nodig, ook een vertegenwoordiger van Body of Art naar de buitenwereld.

Jij hebt:
– Ervaring met leiding geven of voorzitten, in een bestuurlijke of professionele context;
– Gevoel voor groepsdynamiek en besluitvorming;
– Interesse in artistieke ontwikkeling én organisatorische continuïteit;
– Bereidheid om Body of Art te vertegenwoordigen wanneer dat nodig is.

Penningmeester

Je hebt een goed gevoel voor cijfers én kansen. Je denkt graag mee over hoe we financieel gezond blijven en ziet mogelijkheden voor groei. Je houdt overzicht over de begroting en denkt mee over fondsenwerving of nieuwe vormen van financiering.

Jij hebt:
– Financieel en strategisch inzicht (bijvoorbeeld als financieel adviseur, ondernemer, zakelijk leider, directeur of fondsenwerver);
– Ervaring met begrotingen, jaarrekeningen of subsidieprocessen;
– Affiniteit met de culturele sector, maar je hoeft er niet per se onderdeel van te zijn.

Netwerkbouwer

Je verbindt mensen, ideeën en middelen. Je hebt een actief netwerk en weet hoe je deuren opent. Je denkt graag mee over zichtbaarheid, samenwerking en positionering – en ook over hoe we internationaal kunnen groeien.

Jij hebt:
– Een actief (internationaal) netwerk in cultuur, het bedrijfsleven of maatschappelijke sector;
– Een strategische en verbindende blik (eventueel van buiten de culturele bubbel);
– Interesse in kunst als katalysator voor verandering.

Procedure + sluitingsdatum

De werving sluit op woensdag 25 juni 2025. Op basis van de binnengekomen reacties nodigen we een aantal kandidaten uit voor een eerste gesprek. Deze gesprekken vinden plaats op dinsdag 1 juli 2025.

Body of Art is the platform that brings to life the ideas and productions of choreographer, philosopher, and ‘echo maker’ Annemijn Rijk. We work from an intrinsic need to question today’s society—still largely driven by rational norms, values, structures, and privileges—through the arts.

We create sensory, experimental productions in the Grey Space, the artistic realm where artist, artwork, and audience collaboratively bring a work to life through interaction. We offer total experiences in which the context program and audience guidance are essential parts of the whole creation.

We are an innovative and interdisciplinary collective with ambitious national and international plans for the coming years. To help realize these, we are looking for enthusiastic and engaged board members who support our mission and are excited to contribute their expertise and network starting August 2025.

Board of Body of Art / Annemijn Rijk
The board of Body of Art oversees strategic and financial policy at a distance, ensuring that the organization operates in line with its mission, values, and multi-year plan (2025–2028). We are recruiting because two of our current three board members will soon be stepping down—one because of her job as director of Theaterfestival Boulevard, and the other due to a move out of the province. This provides a natural opportunity to renew and strengthen the board.

Board Members
– Meet 4–6 times per year;
– Review formal documents such as the budget, financial statements, and annual report;
– Operate in line with the Governance Code for Culture;
– Provide external oversight and support to our small but professional core team, which is responsible for daily operations;
– Form a diverse team in terms of expertise, age, gender, and cultural background.

General Profile
We’re looking for individuals who have:
– An affinity with culture and societal and/or philosophical issues;
– Insight into artistic content and/or organizational processes;
– An independent and ethical approach;
– Willingness to act as ambassadors for Body of Art;
– Awareness of (inter)national developments in cultural policy and/or entrepreneurship;
– A background that could be outside the cultural sector—perhaps in tech, business, science, sustainability, or philosophy—but with a strong connection to the arts.

Desired Profiles
We are looking for three new board members with the following profiles. Even if you don’t meet every requirement but feel drawn to the role, we warmly invite you to apply.

Chairperson
You maintain oversight, ask the right questions, and guide the team without needing to be in the spotlight. You think strategically, weigh various interests, and help the board function as a team. You understand dynamics, know when to intervene and when to hold back. You can navigate between artistic, organizational, and societal levels—and serve as a representative of Body of Art when necessary.
You have:
– Experience in leadership or chairing, either professionally or in a board context;
– Sensitivity to group dynamics and decision-making processes;
– Interest in both artistic development and organizational continuity;
– Willingness to represent Body of Art publicly when needed.

Treasurer
You have a strong sense for both numbers and opportunities. You think strategically about maintaining financial health and identifying growth potential. You monitor budgets and contribute ideas around fundraising and alternative financing.
You have:
– Financial and strategic insight (e.g. as a financial advisor, entrepreneur, managing director, or fundraiser);
– Experience with budgets, financial statements, or funding processes;
– Affinity with the cultural sector—though direct experience is not required.

Network Builder
You connect people, ideas, and resources. You have an active network and know how to open doors. You enjoy thinking about visibility, partnerships, and positioning—and how we can grow internationally.
You have:
– An active (international) network in culture, business, or the social sector;
– A strategic and connecting mindset (possibly from outside the cultural bubble);
– Interest in art as a catalyst for change.

Application Process + Deadline
Applications close on Wednesday, June 25, 2025. Based on the applications received, selected candidates will be invited for an interview. These will take place on Tuesday, July 1, 2025.
