Annemijn created the audio experience Wander/Wonder especially for the exhibition ‘Soulmates’ of the Stedelijk Museum Breda, consisting of photos by Mous Lamrabat, Robbert Mapplethorpe and Celine van Balen.
Wander/ Wonder can be experienced daily (except Mondays), from September 13, 2024 to March 21, 2025. Tickets.
About Wander / Wonder
Wander/ Wonder focuses on the power of our perception. By paying attention to the body through the senses, openness is created, and over time fixed thought patterns disappear into the background. The aim of this sensory audio artwork is not to fill you with information, but to empty you and thus make you receptive to the works on display.
Once in the museum, you can experience Wander/ Wonder through headphones. The experience lasts approximately 40 minutes. Wander through Soulmates, slow down, let a number of works of art speak to you. Marvel yourself.
Wander/ Wonder live
In addition to the audio experience that you can experience independently in the museum, a live experience has also been created in which Annemijn herself takes you through Wander/ Wonder. In this live experience, you let a number of works of art speak to you in an embodied way. You have never experienced photography like this before! 12 people can participate per experience.

The audio experience Wander/Wonder has its roots in the two fields of expertise of creator Annemijn Rijk: philosophy and choreography. Both the way in which we perceive and the body with which we do so are sources of inspiration.
In this lecture, Annemijn takes you through the choices made in the creative process of Wander/Wonder, from the very first concept to the final experience. We delve into the ideas of philosophers such as Merleau-Ponty and Simone Weil and, from her choreography background, she shares how the body can influence our ability to pay attention and perceive the world around us. Annemijn also takes you into the background and motivation of a number of the photographers of Soulmates, and how this knowledge sharpened and inspired the creation of Wander/Wonder.
